Stay-At-Home Mom Style Remix: Halfway!

Stay-At-Home Mom Style Remix: Halfway!

Stay-At-Home Mom Style Remix: Halfway!
vest, striped shirt/ JC Penney | jeans/ Old Navy | flats/ Target

Today's outfit is important for two reasons. 1) It's outfit number 15, which means we're halfway through this remix! 2) I decided to switch out my maxi skirt (which was initially included in the 30 items, but it's just gotten too cold for it) with these new black skinny jeans, so I have now officially worn every one of my 30 items! Gotta do some serious remixing from here on out.

Since we're no longer concerned about our finances, I have been shopping this month, though I am sticking with the 30 x 30 for as long as I can. Last week I had a reader email me about which skinny jeans from Old Navy I wear (they're these in case you were also wondering), and when I was looking them up online I found out... they came in black. I have been looking for a black pair of skinnies since, oh... before starting this blog I'm pretty sure. When I discovered that Old Navy had the exact same style of skinnies I already own and love, but in black, I ordered them immediately. So thank you, Amy, for asking about my skinny jeans so that I could find the black pair of my dreams. :)

Also, unless you follow me on Instagram, this is the first you've seen of my new hair! I went with a long bob and some side bangs, and I am loving it so far! This is the shortest my hair has been since my sophomore year of high school (ten years ago...), so I was a little nervous but glad I went for it!

Stay-At-Home Mom Style Remix: Almost

necklace, shirt, jeans, flats/ Target | vest/ JC Penney

I almost wore boots with this, but then I realized I probably wear them too much.

I almost didn't wear jeans today, but as you can see, I folded and went with jeans.

I almost wore all Target again, but the vest saved me.

I almost posted a recipe today, but I've been feeling pretty uninspired with recipes and cooking in general lately. Hoping to get out of that funk soon.

And this is a picture of the timer going off as I realized "oh crap there's my neighbor act natural ACT NATURAL" and I almost got caught, but I didn't. My secret is still safe.

This is outfit ten of thirty, which is 1/3 of the way through! Which isn't even close to almost done, but I still feel pretty good about hitting the 1/3 mark.

Stay-At-Home Mom Style: Five Things Friday

1. It's official, I hate my grey skinny jeans. I initially tried them with this outfit, and hated how it looked. I opted for the blue ones instead, and am much happier with it.

2. I love jewel tones. I think they're my favorite colors to wear.

3. I went from cardigan the other day to tee today because it warmed the heck up today. It's supposed to be 80 here tomorrow, which is warmer than it ever got this summer. Weird.

4. There was a brief moment, while writing this post, that I thought it was actually Thursday, and was like "well this isn't going to work."

5. I just decorated my house for fall today, which is sad because I love fall and fall decorations.

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

One Piece Many Ways: Flannel Shirt Edition

I'm super excited to be participating in the One Piece, Many Ways link-up again! (You can find my first attempt here.) This time, I chose another of my favorite remixable pieces, my jewel-toned flannel shirt! I love this thing. I love that it's jewel-toned, because I have a thing for those, but also the colors make it appropriate for spring and summer, while the fact that it's flannel make it appropriate for fall and winter, so it can be worn year-round.

The first two outfits are from previous posts (found here and here), but I've worn it so many other ways that haven't made it onto the blog yet, plus I found a few new ways to wear it while playing around in my closet for this challenge! It is so versatile, and definitely a closet staple for me.

flannel shirt/ Old Navy | necklace/ Caroline G. | white tee and shorts/ Gap | sandals/ Payless

I think this is a perfect end of summer casual outfit. I love pattern mixing, but sometimes you just have to tone it down or break it up a bit, and I think the plain white tee works really well for that here.

sweater/ thrifted | jeans/ Old Navy | boots/ Kohl's
This, on the other hand, is totally a late fall/winter outfit. And also one of my all-time favorite outfits. I think wearing it under a sweater that is also jewel-toned really gives the whole outfit a put-together feel (though it could just be me).

vest/ JC Penney | jeans and flats/ Target
Another very fall outfit. A simple layer like a military vest gives it just the right touch, and while usually I'm a little wary of wearing two items that both have collars together, I think it works here. Also, meet my new cognac flats. I love them. They say hi.

dress and flats/ Target
I think this would be a cute casual date night outfit out with the hubs. Also, can you tell I like pairing this with fuscia yet? I love that the flannel really dresses down what would otherwise be a fairly dressy dress.

boots/ Kohl's
And because I couldn't decide if I liked it better with flats or boots, I'm including it both ways so you can help me decide. I'm torn. I love dresses with boots, but I also really like how it looks with the flats. DECISIONS DECISIONS.

capris/ Post Exchange | flats/ Target
And for yet another very-fall outfit, I paired it with my olive cargo capris and leopard flats. It's simple, but I really like how it looks. Also, can we just take a second to acknowledge that my hair is actually (almost) behaving itself in this picture? Because it wasn't in this one:

No, that is not me trying to look sexy. That is me flipping my hair out of my face right as the self-timer went off. I feel like I should audition for an Herbal Essences commercial now.

Anyway, there you have it! This might be my all-time favorite piece of clothing, and I'm really happy with all of the looks I've made with it. Can't wait to go check out all the other remixes in the link-up, maybe I'll find even more ideas for this shirt! You can check them out, too, right here:

Stay-At-Home Mom Style: Closet Amnesia

Stay-At-Home Mom Style: Closet Amnesia
Stay-At-Home Mom Style: Closet Amnesia
Stay-At-Home Mom Style: Closet Amnesia
Stay-At-Home Mom Style: Closet Amnesia

Everything on my top half today is new. I spent the rest of August's budget on this tee, vest and necklace, and since I got them in the mail last week I've worn them almost non-stop.

The funny thing about getting new clothes is, I suffer a bit of "closet amnesia" for about a week where I forget everything else in my wardrobe and ONLY want to wear the newest item(s). Is it just me?

On another note, I've been hunting for a military vest off and on for about a year now. I finally found this one on JC Penny's website, and loved everything about it except the rhinestones or whatever on one pocket. Not my style, so I dismissed it and kept looking.

I then stumbled across it again a couple weeks ago, on clearance, and it occurred to me... I have a seam ripper, I could just take those puppies off and it'll be perfect! I'm a little ashamed I didn't think of that the first time, but I'm also glad I waited because I got it for a much better price.

Vest: JC Penny (still on clearance!)
Shirt: JC Penny (also still on clearance)
Necklace: Caroline G. (got it free from an offer on facebook, they appear to be sold out now)
Jeans: Target
Flats: Wal-Mart
