Stay-At-Home Mom Style Remix: Two and Three

Stay-At-Home Mom Style Remix: Two and Three
cardigan, flannel shirt, jeans/ Old Navy | boots/ JustFab
Stay-At-Home Mom Style Remix: Two and Three
necklace, sweater, flats/ Target | pants/ Post Exchange

Here are outfits two and three of the remix. All I really have to say is 1) I LOVE cardigans over plaid shirts like that. I don't know why. 2) That flannel shirt and those blue skinnies really are workhorses in my closet. I wouldn't have predicted that for either piece, but I'm loving it! You never know what's going to become a staple for you.

Hope your Thursday is wonderful!

One Piece Many Ways: Flannel Shirt Edition

I'm super excited to be participating in the One Piece, Many Ways link-up again! (You can find my first attempt here.) This time, I chose another of my favorite remixable pieces, my jewel-toned flannel shirt! I love this thing. I love that it's jewel-toned, because I have a thing for those, but also the colors make it appropriate for spring and summer, while the fact that it's flannel make it appropriate for fall and winter, so it can be worn year-round.

The first two outfits are from previous posts (found here and here), but I've worn it so many other ways that haven't made it onto the blog yet, plus I found a few new ways to wear it while playing around in my closet for this challenge! It is so versatile, and definitely a closet staple for me.

flannel shirt/ Old Navy | necklace/ Caroline G. | white tee and shorts/ Gap | sandals/ Payless

I think this is a perfect end of summer casual outfit. I love pattern mixing, but sometimes you just have to tone it down or break it up a bit, and I think the plain white tee works really well for that here.

sweater/ thrifted | jeans/ Old Navy | boots/ Kohl's
This, on the other hand, is totally a late fall/winter outfit. And also one of my all-time favorite outfits. I think wearing it under a sweater that is also jewel-toned really gives the whole outfit a put-together feel (though it could just be me).

vest/ JC Penney | jeans and flats/ Target
Another very fall outfit. A simple layer like a military vest gives it just the right touch, and while usually I'm a little wary of wearing two items that both have collars together, I think it works here. Also, meet my new cognac flats. I love them. They say hi.

dress and flats/ Target
I think this would be a cute casual date night outfit out with the hubs. Also, can you tell I like pairing this with fuscia yet? I love that the flannel really dresses down what would otherwise be a fairly dressy dress.

boots/ Kohl's
And because I couldn't decide if I liked it better with flats or boots, I'm including it both ways so you can help me decide. I'm torn. I love dresses with boots, but I also really like how it looks with the flats. DECISIONS DECISIONS.

capris/ Post Exchange | flats/ Target
And for yet another very-fall outfit, I paired it with my olive cargo capris and leopard flats. It's simple, but I really like how it looks. Also, can we just take a second to acknowledge that my hair is actually (almost) behaving itself in this picture? Because it wasn't in this one:

No, that is not me trying to look sexy. That is me flipping my hair out of my face right as the self-timer went off. I feel like I should audition for an Herbal Essences commercial now.

Anyway, there you have it! This might be my all-time favorite piece of clothing, and I'm really happy with all of the looks I've made with it. Can't wait to go check out all the other remixes in the link-up, maybe I'll find even more ideas for this shirt! You can check them out, too, right here:

Stay-At-Home Mom Style: Homesick

Stay-At-Home Mom Style: Homesick

Stay-At-Home Mom Style: Homesick
Stay-At-Home Mom Style: Homesick

Apologies for the late post and boring outfit today, guys, but today is the day I took my baby sister back to the airport. Having her here was like having a little slice of home, and it made me both incredibly happy and incredibly homesick. Now that she's gone, all that's left is homesick.

I am immensely grateful that I got to spend her birthday with her, and that she was able to come for a week and a half, and that we had so much fun together, but her absence now has thrown into even sharper contrast how badly I want to go back to Nebraska. Sure, I grew up in Kansas, and most of my family still lives there. But for four years I lived in Nebraska and it wormed its way into my heart and just fit so snug-ly in the part of it that is designated for "home." Not a day goes by that we don't wish we were back there already.

Fortunately, we're a little over halfway through our time out here, so for now I will continue to take advantage of the pros of being here. Even on the days where I lose sight of them, like today.

Sorry for being a debby downer, I hope you all are having a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend!
