Stay-At-Home Mom Style: 7x7 Remix

I have been wanting to do a wardrobe challenge like this since I first heard of Kendi's 30 for 30, but 1) I didn't have a blog to hold me accountable and 2) 30 days seemed kind of daunting. So I was pumped when Audrey announced that she was doing a 7x7 remix. It seemed so much more attainable that I just had to try it.

The idea is to choose 7 pieces (including shoes) and make 7 outfits out of those pieces.

So here are the 7 pieces that I chose:

1. Target/ 2. Old Navy/ 3. Target/ 4. Old Navy/ 5. Gap/ 6. Old Navy/ 7. Payless (can you tell my favorite stores yet?)

Since I have a hard time getting out of jeans, I decided to push myself to make outfits with things other than jeans that were still 100% stay-at-home mom approved. Here's what I came up with:

please ignore the fact that wall is a different color in all of these photos; my husband is still getting used to taking photos

One of the reasons I chose not to include jeans and push myself to find outfits without them was this polkadot chambray shirt. I refuse to wear it with jeans (obvs), so I wanted to find more ways to wear it and I feel like I succeeded. (Also, I technically could have had four more outfits by layering this shirt over the other two with both bottoms.)

I wish that I had been able to do more with the dress. I actually technically had 14 outfits, with putting each of the two shirts over the dress, and then the dress alone (in addition to the extra four I mentioned above), but I didn't like how it looked with either of the shirts and just a dress seemed boring for this, ya know? But I'm happy with the outfit I came up with for it and will definitely be using it sometime in the future, for a casual date with the husband or brunch with my family.

Besides that, I think my favorite outfit is number 7. I love the almost-monochromatic feel of the magenta top with the light pink shorts, and the necklace really just makes it for me.

I feel like this was a successful first remix challenge, if I do say so myself. I got myself out of my comfort zone, yet found several mom-friendly outfits from some of my favorite pieces. I'm pretty excited to be able to wear them in the near future.

What do you think? Which outfit is your favorite?

  3. I love this! Good for you for not using jeans. That would have been an easy fall back item. My favorite look is the dress with the belted chambray. So cute!
