This maxi skirt isn't turning out to be as versatile as I'd hoped when I bought it. Maybe it's the combination of hunter green and navy stripes that makes it hard to find colors that go with both? I don't know, but I do know that I haven't been able to style it very many ways. In fact, I've been able to style it exactly two ways so far: this, and the first time I wore it. I wear it fairly often because it is sooo comfortable, but not as often as I thought I might. Any styling suggestions for me? I'm pretty stumped.

In other news, today is the first day of our four-day weekend, which will culminate in E's birthday on Monday! My baby is turning four *sniff*. Today we're going to the county fair and having dinner with friends, Sunday we're taking her to the Santa Cruz boardwalk, and Monday will be spent opening presents and hanging out as a family (her party isn't until next weekend). Here's to a happy Labor Day weekend to all! See you next week when it's unofficially fall! (Did not mean for that to rhyme.)

  1. I love the pattern mixing here! Have you tried pairing the skirt with mustard?... maybe a cardigan with white underneath? It's always hard for me to tell unless I see it in "real life" but it's worth a try! I love the mustard yellow color for fall!

  2. I agree mustard would look good! What about burgundy, mint, or plum? I like it with your chambray!

  3. I think this is cute, I think a basic tee and jean jacket would be great too.

  5. Hey, it was a good idea! But that outfit is actually my profile/button picture, too, so extra whomp. ;) (I tease because I love.)

  6. I do have plum! But no burgundy or mint (yet). Thanks for the ideas!

  7. Thank you! I need mustard in my wardrobe. I have exactly zero, which is a travesty because I love the color so much!

  8. I agree with everything Laura wrote!! All of those colors would look great with that skirt!! I'm really boring and would probably wear it with black, navy, white, or gray all the time...but I think any shade of yellow or deep purples would look especially great!!

  9. I've actually worn it with both black and white already but wanted to stretch its remixability a bit more. But I definitely think yellow (especially mustard) and purples will be a nice pairing. (Lol I feel like I'm talking about wine and cheese, but you know what I mean.)
